Subspecies and variation

Two subspecies are described. This species is seasonally variable in Andaman; the dry season form has reduced black markings and on the underside a bluish white colour. Ssp. naraka has on the upper side wing surface a wider marginal border and more reduced submarginal spots than the nominate species (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

This species is often confused with Pareronia valeria and P. avatar, but can be distinguished by the more rounded wingshape (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
