External characteristics


Male 

Forewings: The sex brand is broad and prominent. The cell spots on the forewing underside are always present (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Subspecies and variation

 
No subspecies. This species has geographical variation, the specimen from Lombok are larger than those of any other islands. The males from Flores have an outer black border that perceptibly extends along the hind margin toward the base on the forewing upper side and the tornal area is black-dusted along some veins and on the hindwing upper side (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

Similar to Eurema sari on the underside wing surface, but is devoid of the reddish brown apical spot on the forewing upper side, not seen in females (D'Abrera, 1982). This species is similar to Eurema timorensis, but is larger in size and the wings are more angluate (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
