The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Two subspecies are described. Ssp. homeyo has a more cream or pale yellow colouration on the hindwing underside, instead of the vivid yellow colouration (Pequin, 2021).

Similar species

This species is similar to Delias mariae and Delias walshae, but can be distinguished by its larger size, the yellow coloured powdering on the inside of the hindwing, and the larger subbasal markings on the hindwing (Pequin, 2021).
