External characteristics


Male 
Wingspan (mm): 83 (Grose Smith And Kirby, 1892).
Forewings: The forewing underside has its basal half blackened. The neck of the plume scale is slender (Yata and Morishita, 1979). Hindwings The hindwing underside has an uniformly yellow ground colour, with a series of submarginal black lunules which are more or less united with each other (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Female  
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Five subspecies are described (Pequin, 2021).

Similar species

This species resembles Delias periboea and Delias fasciata, but it larger than both species (Pequin, 2021).
