External characteristics
Male
Wingspan (mm): 70 (Feltwell, 1993).
Forewings: The wing surface is dark and has a white coloured cilia (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Female Wingspan (mm):70 (Feltwell, 1993).
Subspecies and variation
Three subspecies are described (D'Abrera, 1982; Yata and Morishita, 1979), of which two are found in Sulawesi (D'Abrera, 1982). Ssp. sulanorum is much darker coloured.
