MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 20-23.

General morphology:
Antennae shorter than half of length of forewing, apiculus very long and thin, three times as long as width of club, nudum 12-14 segments. Forewing relatively broad, termen well-curved, hind margin longer than termen; vein M2 decurved at origin, nearer to M3 than to M1 at origin. Hindwing termen well-rounded, inner margin shorter than costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with well-developed white hyaline spots including a large spot in cell. Upper side hindwing dark brown with a central white area. 

Underside: Underside more ferruginous; on the hindwing more variegated, paler in the tornal area and there is a ferruginous brown spot below the cell-end. An unmistakable species.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male without secondary sexual characters.  

Species

 
Two species, Sri Lanka and India to China, Taiwan, continental SE. Asia and through Malaysia eastward to Sumbawa, not in Borneo or Sulawesi.
