MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 14-18.

General morphology:
Antennae as long as or longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse to moderately hooked, nudum 13-15 segments. Forewing triangular, termen slightly curved, hind margin about as long as termen. Hindwing termen slightly curved, almost straight in lower part, inner margin about as long as costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with well-developed white or pale yellow hyaline spots including a spot in cell. Upper side hindwing brown to dark brown, unmarked. 

Underside: Underside forewing paler than upper side, generally yellowish super-scaling along costa and in apical area. Underside hindwing with more or less extensive yellow super-scaling, which not fully reaches termen.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male with or without brands on upper side of forewing, but cubitus may be swollen and may be overlaid by a black hair tuft from the base of the hind margin.  

Species

 
Eight species, extending from NE. India through continental SE. Asia to the Philippines, Sulawesi and the Lesser Sunda Islands (Alor).
