MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 45636.

General morphology:
Antennae longer than half of length of forewing, club with short hooked apiculus, nudum 11 segments. Forewing rounded-triangular, costa almost straight, termen evenly curved, hind margin as long as termen. Hindwing termen rounded, inner margin as long as costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing yellow/orange markings consist of a complete series of conjoined discal spots and a large area along costa and in cell, leaving dark brown area on both sides of discal spots. Upper side hindwing dark brown, continuous series of yellow to orange discal spots and such a spot in cell

Underside: Underside similar to upper side, but generally with strong yellow or orange super-scaling, particularly so on the hindwing.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
In two species the male has brand or stigma on the upper side of the forewing

Three species, extending from Timor and the Moluccas to New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Australia.
