MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 11-16.
General morphology:
Antennae as long as half of length of forewing, apiculus hooked and not longer than width of club, nudum 12 segments. Forewing rounded-triangular, costa almost straight, termen evenly curved, hind margin longer than termen. Hindwing termen rounded, very slightly protruding at tornus, inner margin longer than costa.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with a complete series of conjoined yellow/ orange discal spots, most of cell yellow/orange extending to costa, well separated from discal spots. Upper side hindwing dark brown with continuous band of yellow/orange discal spots, a separate spot at costa and usually a basal spot in cell.
Underside: Underside similar to upper side, but with strong yellow/ orange super-scaling, particularly so on the hindwing.
Secondary sexual characters:
Underside similar to upper side, but with strong yellow/ orange super-scaling, particularly so on the hindwing.
Species
Secondary sexual characters – Generally the male has a brand over the middle of vein 1A+2A on the upper side of the forewing, some species have a discal stigma.
