MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 18-22.

General morphology:
Antennae as long as half of length of forewing, apiculus very long and thin, three times as long as width of club, nudum 17 segments. Forewing triangular-elongate, termen almost straight, hind margin as long as termen. Hindwing termen very slightly curved, tornus slightly produced, inner margin not longer than costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with, in the male, the baso-dorsal third clothed with pale yellowish or greenish hair scales, pale yellow or whitish hyaline spots including double spot in cell. Upper side hindwing dark brown, basal two-thirds clothed with pale yellowish or greenish hair scales. 

Underside: Underside forewing and hindwing as upper side but paler, with each wing a pale submarginal band and an obscure or well-defined discal band.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male on upper side forewing with or without Halpe-like stigma correlated to a distortion of veins at the end of the cell in the hindwing.  

Species

 
Three species, extending from northeastern India to southern China and Hainan, and through continental SE. Asia to Borneo and Java. Two species in the area covered here.
