External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 17-24.
General morphology:
Antennae as long as or longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus at right angles to the stout club and nearly equal to it in length, nudum 14 segments. Eyes red. Forewing triangular, costa and termen almost straight or termen slightly curved, hind margin as long as termen. Hindwing termen evenly curved, but very slightly protruding at tornus, inner margin slightly longer than costa.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing brown of various shades, sometimes with purple gloss. Upper side hindwing plain brown, cilia in tornal half of termen yellow.
Underside: Underside unmarked brown.
Secondary sexual characters:
Male with a black or grey stigma of various shapes on upper side forewing.
Species
Nine species, extending from Sri Lanka and India to the Philippines, Sulawesi and Bangkei Archipelago.
