MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 14-18.
General morphology:
Antennae not longer than half length of forewing, apiculus like a fish-hook, nudum up to 17 segments. Forewing triangular-elongate with gently curved termen or termen practically straight from tornus to subapical area, hind margin about as long as termen. Hindwing gently rounded but tornus slightly produced, inner margin as long as costa, end of cell produced and vein M2 decurved at origin.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing dark to greyish brown with white hyaline spots. Upper side hindwing unmarked brown.
Underside: Underside forewing as upper side, but paler. Underside hindwing as upper side but paler, may be unmarked, with indistinct spots, a series of pale yellow or dark spots, or a series of large white spots forming a band across the wing.
Secondary sexual characters:
Male with a brand on the upper side of the forewing correlated with the distortion of the veins at the end of the cell in the hindwing.

30 or more species, extending from India and China to the Philippines, Sulawesi and Java. Ca. 20 species in the Malesian region
