External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 26-37.
General morphology:
Antennae as long as or longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus longer than twice width of club, more or less hooked or obtuse, nudum 16 segments. Forewing triangular, costa very slightly curved to straight, termen very slightly curved to straight, hind margin longer than termen. Hindwing termen evenly rounded, but slightly protruding at tornus, inner margin about as long as costa.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing brown with three white hyaline spots (two discal spots and cell spot); two apical spots present in one species; apically whitened in some species and the white area may be more or less sharply defined; in one species (E. harmachis) there is a broad curved pale-yellow band on the forewing, but since only the female is known, its place in this genus is uncertain. Upper side hindwing unmarked.
Underside: Underside forewing ground color may be paler in the outer half of the wing and there ny be violet shading in the apical part. Underside hindwing as upper side, but there may be vaguely paler spots or some violet shading.
