MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 16-22.

General morphology:
Antennae, nudum with four segments on club and twelve on apiculus. Forewing termen almost straight to slightly crenulate. Hindwing inner margin as long as costa, termen evenly rounded to slightly crenulate.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing tawny, brown or grey with large hyaline and darker spots more or less visible. Upper side hindwing similar, but hyaline spots only in Chinese species. 

Underside: Underside forewing and hindwing as upper side, but generally paler and darker marlkings more prominent.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male hind tibiae furnished with recumbent hair pencil in most species, female with anal tuft in some species.
