MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 23-36.
General morphology:
Antennae with long club and long recurved acute apex. Forewing rounded. Hindwing tornus very slightly extended, termen may be slightly indented above tornus.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing unmarked brown or grey-brown, often with a bluish sheen which may be quite strong; sometimes blurred paler areas in spaces cua1 and cua2. Upper side hindwing plain brown or grey-brown, with or without bluish sheen.
Underside: Underside forewing as upper side but more or less striped along the veins and with large whitish, not sharply outlined area from inner margin extending into space m3. Underside hindwing with a small black dot at the base of space sc+r1, just above the radial sector (unique in Hesperiidae); more or less striped along and/or between the veins.
Secondary sexual characters:
A rounded black brand on the upper side of the forewing is found in the male of some species, and one species shows linear brands along some veins.
Species
13 species, together extending from Sri Lanka to NW. Himalayas, northward to southern China and eastward to the Philippines, Java and Sulawesi.
