MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 13-20.
General morphology:
Antennae shorter than half of length of forewing, apiculus right-angled, constricted at its commencement, tip upturned, nudum 14 segments, of which seven on the club. Forewing broad-triangular or more produced, costa almost straight, termen weakly curved, hind margin as long as or longer than termen. Hindwing termen rounded, tornus slightly produced, inner margin as long as costa.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing brown with more or less complete or incomplete series of small, whitish, hyaline discal spots, sometimes missing, no cell spot. Upper side hindwing brown, no spots or some indistinct discal spots.
Underside: Underside much like upper side, may be a bit paler.
Secondary sexual characters:
No secondary sexual characters.
Species
Twenty-one species, of which 18 in Africa, one of which extends into the Mediterranean, and three in Asia where they occur from India to China, the Solomon Islands and Australia.
