MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 18-20.

General morphology:
Antennae as long as half of length of forewing, club slender apiculus obtuse and finely pointed, 11-14 segments. Forewing elongate and rounded, costa arched, termen nicely curved, hind margin slightly curved inwardly, longer than termen; veins R1 and R2 almost touching, vein M3 nearer to vein M1 than to vein CuA1. Hindwing termen well-curved, tornus very slightly produced, inner margin not longer than costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Above unmarked brown, sometimes a strong violet gloss. 

Underside: Underside unmarked or with faint pale areas and dull yellow spots.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male on underside forewing with an elongate oval brand under the origin of vein CuA2, and a corresponding nacreous area in the costal region on the upper side of the hindwing.  

Species

 
One species, extending from S. India through continental SE. Asia to the Philippines, Sulawesi and Java.
