External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 20-25.

General morphology:
Antennae not longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse, nudum 16 segments. Forewing triangular, costa straight, termen almost straight in male, slightly curved in female, hind margin as long as (male) or longer than (female) termen. Hindwing termen evenly rounded, inner margin about as long as costa, tornus a bit produced, cell shorter than half wing.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with complete series of yellow/orange discal spots from hind margin to costa, separated by dark veins; in basal half there may be some dusting by orange scales. Upper side hindwing dark brown with broad series of yellow/orange discal spots separated by dark veins. 

Underside: Underside more or less like upper side, hindwing may be plain dark brown.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male with a glandular brand on the upper side of the hindwing, in two species overlaid by a hair tuft and in one species correlated with a speculum at the middle of the hind margin on the underside of the forewing.  

Species

 
Three species, two are Sulawesi endemics, the third is found from the Philippines through Sulawesi to the Moluccas.
