MORPHOLOGY
External characteristics
Male
Forewing length (mm): 33 - 35 (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001), 40 (Kirton, 2018).. Wingspan (mm): 70 - 80 (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, 2022).
Forewings: The forewing underside has an uniformly white cell. The triangular flask-shaped plume has a very narrow neck (Yata and Morishita, 1979). Hindwings There are red coloured submarginal spots (Pequin, 2021). The hindwing underside has blackend veins in the basal half (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Female

Subspecies and variation
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982). The upper side of the wing surface is creamy-white or tinged with yello. The forewing has a black distal area, which is more extended than in the male. There are traces of two or three subapical yellow spots. The underside wing surface is similar as in males (Pequin, 2021).
