External characteristics


Male 

Forewings: The forewing underside has large spots and the white coloured, broad median band extends to vein M3 (Joicey and Talbot, 1922). Hindwings The hindwing has a pale yellow band, with some white scaling intermixed (Joicey and Talbot, 1922).

Female  
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Four subspecies are described, of which three subspecies are found in Papua (Pequin, 2021).

Similar species

This species is similar to Delias albertisi to its underside, but the upper side wing surface is in this species mainly white coloured (Pequin, 2021).
