External characteristics
Male
Forewings: In the forewing, the dark distal area is sharply defined, reaching to vein Cu2 of below this and is variable in width. There can be submarginal white spots, but sometimes these are absent. The underside of the forewing has grey-white proximal areas, with three white subapical spots (Pequin, 2021). Hindwings The hindwing has pale yellow markings (Pequin, 2021).
Female
The females generally have a different under side wingsurface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982). The upper side of the forewing has a white proximal area, dusted with black submedian area and has three smal postcellular spots. Further, there are some indistinct small submarginal white spots. The under side of the forewing is similar to that of a male. The hindwing is creamy-white (Pequin, 2021).
Subspecies and variation
Four subspecies are described, of which three subspecies are found in Borneo (Pequin, 2021).
