External characteristics
Male
Wingspan (mm): 70 - 84 (DBpedia, n.d.).
Forewings: The forewing underside has large submarginal white coloured spots (Pequin, 2021). Hindwings The hindwing underside is predominantly white coloured and has yellow with orange submarginal spots (Pequin, 2021).
Female
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982). The submarginal spots on the forewing underside are cream coloured, instead of white as seen in males. The hindwing underside is black with a dusting of yellow and, has like in the males, the same orange spots (Pequin, 2021).
