MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 15.

General morphology:
Antennae just longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse to moderately hooked, nudum 13-15 segments. Forewing triangular-elongate, hind margin about as long as termen, which is weakly curved. Hindwing termen nicely curved, costa longer than inner margin.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with orange-yellow area along costa in basal half of wing and an irregular row of orange-yellow discal spots from hind margin to apical area. Upper side hindwing dark brown with an orange-yellow band from mid inner margin to close to apex in female, or orange-yellow with dark brown in tornal third and a patch along costa

Underside: Underside forewing yellow, with a dark brown patch in basal part of cell and at tornus, much larger in female than in male. Underside hindwing yellow, more or less developed brown spot at tornus.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
On upper side of the hindwing of the male there is a peculiar oval white brand, which exudes a waxy secretion; on the underside of the forewing there is e speculum and the dorsum (hind margin) is produced to cover the brand.

One species, extending from India through continental SE. Asia to the Philippines, Sulawesi and Java.
