MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 23-32.

General morphology:
Antennae as long as half costa, with long slender club and long finely pointed apex. Rather broad-winged, angle between termen and inner margin of forewing at most 105o. Hindwing with termen rounded or slightly hooked halfway.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing rufous to dark brown, plain or with a white or yellow band or spots. Upper side hindwing may be inconspicuously spotted or have the termen more or less orange. 

Underside: Underside forewing as upper side. Underside hindwing as upper side.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male often with costal fold. Male hind tibiae with upper spurs often more or obsolete and the lower air unequal; at the back with a hair pencil longer than the tibia and a long tuft on the femur. In two species male hind leg not modified.  

Species

 
Twelve species, mainly New Guinea and surrounding islands, also Moluccas and N. Australia.
