MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 15-24.

General morphology:
Antennae not longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse to hooked, nudum 16 segments. Forewing triangular, costa and termen almost straight, hind margin slightly longer than termen. Hindwing termen rounded, inner margin slightly longer than costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with series of yellow/orange discal spots, from hind margin to costa and separated by dark veins, cell and along yellow/costa orange, but restricted to a spot in cell in female. Upper side hindwing dark brown with wider or narrower band of yellow/orange discal spots, more or less separated by sark veins, with or without cell spot. 

Underside: Underside similar to upper side, but with strong yellow/orange super-scaling obscuring the markings to almost completely yellow with some small dark spots; forewing, black brown area along hind margin and at base.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
No secondary sexual characters.  

Species

 
Five species, extending India through continental SE. Asia to Australia and New Guinea and surrounding islands.
