External characteristics
Male
Wingspan (mm): 70 (Feltwell, 1993; Grose Smith And Kirby, 1892).
Forewings: The wing surface ground-colour is blue-white. The forewing apex has a wide black coloured margin and there are two small spots, which are more intense on the forewing underside (Feltwell, 1993).
Female Wingspan (mm):70 (Feltwell, 1993).
The sexes are similar, but the females have a black margin on the hindwing underside and the entire underside of the wing has a yellowish cast (D'Abrera, 1982).
Subspecies and variation
Two subspecies are described (D'Abrera, 1982).
