MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 17-27.

General morphology:
Antennae about as long as half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse, finely pointed, 11 to 14 segments. Forewing broad, rounded, hind margin longer than termen; vein M2 more or less decurved at origin, where it is always nearer to vein M3 than to vein M1. Hindwing termen about as long as costa; cell shorter than half wing.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side und underside of all wings unmarked blackish brown, but paler along hind margin of forewing underside, or with a broad orange from tornus to mid costa on forewing; in female of one species overall color brown and band on forewing narrower and pale yellow. 

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male with a brand on the upper side of the hindwing in one species.
