MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics
Forewing length (mm): 10-14.
General morphology:
Antennae longer than half of length of forewing, club flattened, apex rounded or very shortly pointed, nudum 9-10 segments. Forewing rounded-triangular, costa almost straight, termen evenly curved, hind margin slightly longer than termen. Hindwing termen rounded, inner margin as long as costa.
Wing coloration:
Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with white, yellow or orange spots, usually the series of discal spots is complete and there may be a larger spot in the cell, several spots may merge into a larger orange area covering much of the wing. Upper side hindwing dark brown with white, pale yellow to orange discal spots.
Underside: Underside similar to upper side, but generally with strong yellow or orange super-scaling.
Secondary sexual characters:
In a number of species the male has brands or stigma in variable shape and number.
