MORPHOLOGY


External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 40 - 42 (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001) .
Forewings: The forewing upper side has its outer half stained with black coloured scales. The forewing underside apex is not yellow (Yata and Morishita, 1979). The forewing upper side is white coloured, which is towards the outside darker in appearance, and has black veins (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001). Hindwings The hindwing underside lacks the black coloured discal spot (Yata and Morishita, 1979). The hindwing underside has a prominent yellowish brown band in the submarginal region (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001).

Female  
The sexes are similar, but the females have heavier black apical markings on the underside wing surface (D'Abrera, 1982). The wings are rounded and the marginal border is broader in females (Yata and Morishita, 1979).  

Subspecies and variation

 
No subspecies (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

This species is similar to Prioneris thestylis (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
