External characteristics

Forewings: Both wings have on the upper side a golden-yellow colouration. (Yata and Morishita, 1979)  Hindwings The hindwing has black coloured marginal borders are widened and occupy more than half of the wing (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Female  
Both wings are white coloured with brownish black marginal borders, which are inwardly irregular on the hindwing (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

This species is similar to Ixias venilia, but the androconia on the hindwing is slightly smaller (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
