MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 14-19.

General morphology:
Antennae longer than half of length of forewing, club white-ringed before apiculus, which is obtuse to moderately hooked, nudum 13-15 segments. Forewing elongate-triangular, termen almost straight to mildly curved, hind margin longer than termen. Hindwing termen well-rounded, inner margin longer than costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing blackish brown, unmarked or with well-developed white hyaline spots including a spot in cell. Upper side hindwing unmarked blackish. 

Underside: Underside forewing a bit paler than upper side, particularly in outer half. Underside hindwing as upper side, but may have a series of small white markings from costa to close to basal third of inner margin.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
In two species the male has a long tuft of hairs on the hind margin on the underside of the forewing.
