MORPHOLOGY


External characteristics


Male 
Wingspan (mm): 38 (Braby, 2004).
Forewings: The forewing upper side has on the inner edge a black coloured apical patch, which is strongly produced and square-shaped. The forewing underside has an orange coloured cell and lack the black subapical patch. The upper side wing surface is pearly white coloured (Braby, 2004). 

Female  Wingspan (mm):37 (Braby, 2004).
 

Subspecies and variation

 
There is seasonal variation; the dry-season form has a creamish white upper side wing surface and has extensive brown markings on the hindwing underside (Braby, 2004).
