External characteristics


Male 
Wingspan (mm): 38 (Kirby and Bowdler Sharpe, 1897) .
Forewings: The forewing apex is acute. The forewing upper side has a black marking, which is obtuse and not produced (Yata and Morishita, 1979). 

Female  Wingspan (mm):38 (Kirby and Bowdler Sharpe, 1897).
The female is larger than the male. The underside wing surface is somewhat brown coloured. The hindwing underside has a narrow submarginal band (Yata and Morishita, 1979).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Four subspecies are described (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

This species is similar to Elodina angulipennis, but is smaller (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
