External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 31 - 34 (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001).
Forewings: The wing surface is yellow coloured. The forewing has a wavy margin and in the apical region a square pattern (Otsuka, Kazuhisa, 2001). Hindwings The hindwing termen has a narrow black coloured border and pink coloured cilia. The hindwing underside has a pink coloured cilia and the discocellular spot is absent (Yata and Morishita, 1979)

Female  
The females have a usually white ground-colour (Yata and Morishita, 1979).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Two subspecies are described (Yata and Morishita, 1979). Females of ssp. gobrias in the Bornean and Niasan form, are creamy-white coloured. Females from ssp. herodorus are pale yellow coloured (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

Similar to Dercas verhuelli (Yata and Morishita, 1979) herodorus (D'Abrera, 1982).
