MORPHOLOGY


External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 40. Wingspan (mm): 54.
Forewings: Upperside black with whitish or pale greenish/bluish spots as follows: complete series of small but conspicuous submarginal spots, series of large median spots from hind margin to end of cell, lower spots confluent and filling more than 1/3 of width of wing along vein 1, narrow linear spots in lower half of cell and a larger one in upper part; underside similar, but dark brown rather than black Hindwings Crenulate, no tail; upperside outer half and along hind margin black with small but conspicuous submarginal spots, rest of wing an undivided, triangular white area, turning to pale greenish in lower part (toward tornus); underside rather dark brown than black, outer half dark with well developed submarginal spots and some irregular red median spots, also red spots at tornus.

No variation recorded.

Similar species

Rather similar to G. bathycles, but the larger whitish/greenish median spots on the forewing and the large, undivided whitish/greenish area on the hindwing easily separates this species.
