External characteristics


Male 

Forewings: The forewing upper side is white coloured, with a black coloured costa and border. The forewing underside is white coloured and has a black costa and border, bearing two yellow subapical spots (Pequin, 2021). Hindwings The hindwing upper side is translucent white, with the pattern of the underside partly visible, and has a small black border with some grey diffusion at the inner edge. The hindwing underside is mainly black, with a yellow elongate spot in the basal area. There is a oval, white and yellow discal spot and a curved red line from the middle of the costa to the tornus (Pequin, 2021).

No subspecies (Pequin, 2021).

Similar species

This species is somewhat similar to Delias phippsi, Delias akrikensis and the dark female form of Delias hapalina (Pequin, 2021).
