External characteristics
Male
Forewings: The forewing costa is fairly curved and the apex is strongly produced. The forewing underside lack the submarginal black band and the marginal row of spots is divided by a dark streak along the fold in each space. The forewing upper side has a black coloured submarginal band in the cell and the discocellular spot lacks (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Female
The hindwing upper side of the female has its outer half stained by grey scales (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Subspecies and variation
No subspecies. The hindwing underside has variable colouration and development of the yellow coloured basal area (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
