Pachliopta liris (Godart, 1819)

OCCURENCE

Habitat: Forest - Subtropical/Tropical Moist Lowland
This species is reportedly found in broken secondary lowland forest (Page and Treadaway 2004). The host plant of this species is Aristolochia philppensis (Page and Treadway 2004). This plant is found in the Philippines in thickets and forests up to elevations of 900 m (Fern 2018), therefore it is likely that this species is found similarly in forests up to an altitude of 900 m. The foodplant is harvested for use as a medicine to treat stomach ache (Fern 2018). There is no other information on the habitats and ecology of this species.

Population: There is no information on the population of this species.
Range: This species is found on the islands at the centre of the Philippines, namely: Bohol, Cebu, Dinagar, South Leyte, Mindanao, Panaon, Samar and Siargao (Treadaway 1995, Page and Treadaway 2004). Its estimated extent of occurrence is approximately 250,000 km2.
