MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 13-16.

General morphology:
Antennae longer than half of length of forewing, apiculus obtuse and longer than width of club, nudum 13-17 segments. Forewing rounded-triangular, costa almost straight, termen evenly curved, hind margin slightly longer than termen. Hindwing termen rounded, inner margin as long as costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with more or less complete series of yellow/orange discal spots separated by blackish veins, also yellow/orange area in cell which may extend to costa. Upper side hindwing dark brown with continuous series of yellow/orange discal spots, vague spot near base in cell

Underside: Underside similar to upper side, but with weaker or stronger yellow/orange super-scaling.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
On the upper side of the forewing there is generally a discal stigma in the male.  

Species

 
Seven species, extending from Lesser Sunda Islands and Moluccas to New Guinea and Australia.
