MORPHOLOGY


External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 46. Wingspan (mm): 72.
Forewings: Upperside dark brown, very pale greenish spots, all rounded and separate, as follows: complete series of very small submarginal spots (may start in space 2), complete series of median spots from hind margin to near apex, the one in space 1a large and filling most of the space, small linear spot at base of cell, continued to median spot in space 1a, small dot at upper end of cell; underside paler brown, markings similar Hindwings Crenulate, at end of vein 4 extended into a short tail; upperside dark brown, tiny submarginal spots, pale greenish area from base of space 7 through cell, base of space 3, and space 2 almost to tornus, various parts separated by dark veins; underside paler shade of brown, a bit mottled due to darker undefined spots in median area with paler line at the outer side, reddish spots in spaces 1b and 2, base of space 6 and larger one at base of space 7.

Similar to male, but the spots are bluish, not greenish.  

Subspecies and variation

 
Little known. Rare in collections, yet four subspecies have been distinguished.
