External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 20 - 25 (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Forewings: The forewing upper side has a well developed orange markings and the wing colour is partly bright orange. The wing surface is yellow coloured. The black coloured marginal border on the upper side wing surface is wardly irregular and clearly bordered (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Subspecies and variation

 
No subspecies. This species varies seasonally; the dry season form has a narrow marginal black band and the black streak along the vein on the forewing upper side lacks, the discocellular spot is elongated and reaches to the costa, the underside ground-colour is reddish brown and the markings are well developed (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
