External characteristics
Male
Wingspan (mm): 60 (Feltwell, 1993).
Forewings: The forewing is bright yellow coloured, is brown around the apex and has a clear brown spot (Feltwell, 1993). Hindwings The hindwings are relatively unmarked (Feltwell, 1993).
Female Wingspan (mm):60 (Feltwell, 1993).
Both sexes are very alike in pattern and size (Feltwell, 1993).
Subspecies and variation
The orange suffusion of the apex of the forewing underside varies in intensity from population to population (D'Abrera, 1982).
