MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 14-17.

General morphology:
Antennae club with apiculus obtuse or hooked, nudum 10-12 segments. Forewing triangular with gently curved termen, hind margin longer than termen. Hindwing evenly rounded, inner margin about as long as costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side and underside of all wings dark brown with a slight golden hue. 

Underside: Underside forewing with an oval orange patch near the ap[ex.. Upper side hindwing sparse;y dusted with ferruginous scales.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
In two species (including the one in our present area) the male has a black hair tuft on the dorsum at the underside of the forewing.  

Species

 
Four species, extending from India to Borneo, only one of which is found in the area covered here; in Madagascar one or more relatives. The description above relates to the single species in the area covered here.
