MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Forewing length (mm): 12-21.

General morphology:
Antennae nearly half of length of forewing, apiculus constricted at commencement, more obtuse than right-angled, nudum 13-14 segments of which 5 on the club. Forewing triangular, costa almost straight, termen straight to slightly curved, hind margin longer than termen. Hindwing termen almost straight, tornus very slightly produced, inner margin as long as costa.

Wing coloration:

Upper side: Upper side forewing dark brown with complete series of white, mostly hyaline discal spots, and double cell spot. Upper side hindwing dark brown, no spots or at most an indistinct one. 

Underside: Underside as upper side.

Secondary sexual characters:

 
Male with or without discal on the upper side of the forewing.  

Species

 
Eleven species, extending from India, China, Korea and Japan throughout SE. Asia, but not beyond Sulawesi and the Lesser Sunda Islands. Only five species in the area covered here.
