Eurema tilaha

MORPHOLOGY

External characteristics

Male

Forewings: The upper side ground-colour is pale. The forewing upper side has a black border, which is deeply excavated and has a black border along the hind margin clearly stepped near the tornus (Yata and Morishita, 1979). Hindwings The hindwing underside has a basal series of spots, usually in a ring-like shape and always enterring the cell (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Female

Subspecies and variation

Two (Yata and Morishita, 1979) or three (D'Abrera, 1982) subspecies are described. The black border along the outer and hind margins is narrower in ssp. myria (Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

Similar to Eurema alitha, but alitha has a convex anterior marging of the forewing tornus, whereas tilaha has a more concave shape (D'Abrera, 1982). This species is similar to Eurema nicevillei (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
