Similar to male, but dark brown rather than black.

Subspecies and variation

There is much variation in size and in the width and intensity of the color of the pale areas; twelve subspecies are recognized, nine of which are found in the Malaysian area.

Similar species

Similar to G. doson and G. evemon, with which its distribution area largely overlaps. In G. eurypylus there is almost always a double submarginal spot in space 1b on the forewing upperside, while there is only one in the other species. For similarity with G. meyeri, see there.
