External characteristics


Male 

Forewings: The forewing upper side has a white coloured proximal area, which does not reach the end of the cell. The forewing underside has white subapical spots (Pequin, 2021). Hindwings The hindwing upper side has a black marginal border. The hindwing underside is black and has reddish brown markings. There is a short and broad stripe, small rounded discal spots, a short distally pointed stripe, five submarginal spots and a small white costal spot above the anterior red spot (Pequin, 2021).

Female  
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982). Both wings of the female have a slight extension of the black area. The forewing has white subapical spots (Pequin, 2021).
