External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): > 45 (Yata and Morishita, 1979).
Forewings: The forewing underside has a yellow coloured cell end spot and an outer series of yellow coloured streaks. The plume scale and ordinary scale are elongated. Both wingsurfaces have a black ground-colour. The upper side wing surface has some blue-ish grey scaling (Yata and Morishita, 1979).  

Female  
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982).  

Subspecies and variation

 
Two subspecies are described (Pequin, 2021; Yata and Morishita, 1979).

Similar species

This species is one of the largest species of all Delias sp. (Pequin, 2021).
