External characteristics


Male 
Wingspan (mm): 47 - 50 (DBpedia, n.d.).
Forewings: The forewing upper side has a white area reaching beyond the end of the cell to a variable extent. The forewing underside has a white coloured area. There are three yellow subapical spots.Two spots are formed from a broken thin antemarginal line (Pequin, 2021). Hindwings The hindwing upper side has a narrow black border between veins M3 - M1. The hindwing underside has subbasal patch, of which half is coloured yellow and half is coloured white. The costa is black coloured to the base and the discal area is white coloured. There is a red submarginal line, which is bordered by white spots, separated by black veins. The outer border has a black colouration. On the white area, there is a yellow longitudinal stripe, with a more or less green-ish yellow dusted inner margin (Pequin, 2021).

Female  
The females generally have a different underside wing surface than the males, by being darker with broader margins on both wings (D'Abrera, 1982). In the females, the black margin on both wings is much wider than in males. The forewing upper side has two white subapical spots in females. The forewing underside and the hindwing is as in males (Pequin, 2021).  

Subspecies and variation

 
No subspecies (Pequin, 2021).

Similar species

This species is similar to Delias mesoblema, Delias flavistriga, Delias arabuana and Delias awongkor, but it can be distinguished by single yellow strip on the central white patch on the hindwing underside (Pequin, 2021).
