MORPHOLOGY


External characteristics


Male 
Forewing length (mm): 55. Wingspan (mm): 86-88.
Forewings: Upperside outer half unmarked brownish black, basal half white with two black bands from costa to hind margin, one near wing base, the other crossing the cubitus just under or just over the origin of vein 2; underside similar, but paler, brown instead of black Hindwings Margin crenulate with long tail at end of vein 4, about as long as length of hindwing from base to beginning of tail; white with black to grayish markings as follows: band from costa hear wing base, across cell and in cell 1b to near tornus, short band from mid costa to lower part of cell, and black to gray markings along outer margin and submarginally; underside similar, but dark markings more sharply defined and conspicuous red markings in central dark band.

Similar to male, a bit paler.
